Halelujah!! The Weekend Has Arrived!

It's Friday and I am full to the brim with happiness. I love Fridays because I usually am done with work around noon or so. I really do like my job but I am pretty spent by Thursday night. The state doesn't pay overtime which kinda sucks, but is kinda awesome at the same time. We are encouraged to go home after 40 hours. You can bet your bottom dollar that I definitely keep track of my hours so I can leave as early as possible on Fridays. So, today I'm leaving in about 30 minutes. 12:45! Holla! I'm especially happy to leave early because I am going to lunch with friends and then heading over to DSW shoes because I have a coupon for 30% off and I have a gift card that I got for my birthday (way long ago) that I keep forgetting to use. Lunch with friends and shoes on my list of Top 10 Favorite things.

Heidi Bluth:Super Sleuth

As of recent, I've added "detective work" to my job description. This all started because I currently have some lovely clients who are Big Fat Liars. I can't go into much detail because of confidentiality rules (that makes me sound so official, but it's true) and such but I got pretty worked up the other day when I found out Mr. and Mrs. X were totally lying through their teeth to me. Most everyone knows, but I work in the world of child protective services. My job is basically to make sure kids are safe. Usually the reasons we have concerns about safety of children is because the parents are not doing such a great job at keeping their kids safe (i.e. abuse (all kinds) and drugs). Well my job is to work with the parents on the things they need help with, usually by connecting them to resources, going to court with them, etc. So Mr. and Mrs. X fall under that category of not really keeping their kid safe. Mr. and Mrs. X turned into Big Fat Liars the day that I got a call from Mr. B.F.L. that Mrs. B.F.L. had mysteriously disappeared. "Well that's odd" I thought to myself. A series of events happened after that which I won't bore you with, but then come to find out from a very reliable "source" Mrs. B.F.L had in fact, not disappeared but is actually hiding in the comfort of her own home. Well, whaddaya know! Who do these little masterminds think they are dealing with? I'll tell you who, Heidi Bluth-Super Sleuth, that's who. What does a true sleuth do when a case gets fishy? She goes on a stake-out. That's right, real detective work. Looking back, it wasn't really necessary to do this, but I was fuming with anger! Who lies? I don't think I've been straight up lied to since like elementary school, with the exception of a former boyfriend who is captain of the Big Fat Liar National Team. I didn't know lying drove me so crazy until this all went down. Well, nothing happened at the stake-out unfortunately, but don't worry, I'm using my sources to bust Mr. and Mrs. Big Fat Liar.

Cabo Wabo

We've been home from Cabo just over a week and man do I need a vacation again. Cabo was absolutely perfect although way too short. The weather was in the eighties every day and there wasn't a single cloud in the sky the whole time. My sunburn is proof of that. We got there Sunday afternoon, took a shuttle to our hotel, checked in as fast as humanly possible, ran up to our room even faster, and changed into our swimsuits even faster. It was about 4:00 by that time, so the sunbathing hours were practically over, but we took a walk on the beach and just enjoyed the perfect weather. On the walk we came across a totally disgusting washed up fish. It was one of those puffer kind of fish and it's eyes were kinding bulging out. Sick.
Monday we woke up at the crack of dawn. We wanted to get as much time in the sun as possible. However, we would later regret that decision. We caught a water taxi over to Lover's Beach (oo la la). We got a little tour from the taxi driver and say two whales!!! It was way cool. Once we got to the island Seth went snorkeling and I laid on the beach (no duh!). I enjoyed Sudoku, sun, and reading The Lovely Bones (kinda a weird book). Seth came back from snorkeling and said I should totally go, that he saw the coolest fish, and even saw one half the size of him! Ummm...does Seth not know me at all? How would I find a giant monster fish cool when I can't even swim with anything the size of a tadpole! Oh! and he said it looked like the fish was smiling! How freaky is that? His description of what he saw in the water pretty much solidied my decision to never, EVER snorkel. I really think that had I seen that fish I would have absolutely FREAKED out and possible would have drowned. I'm even getting freaked thinking about it.
Tuesday, more time in the sun. Had a heck of time trying to order Subway sandwiches in Spanish. Tuesday night, realize we are TOTALLY fried. It hurts to shower, wear clothes, put on aloe, breathe.
Wednesday, wake up, both decide we are too scared to go in the sun because it will hurt our burns, decide to go to the pool, but kind of sit in the shade. Seth entered us in ping-pong tournament, I smoked a 10 year old and Seth and won the tournamet, won a free pina colada, ordered it with no alcohol and got a funny look, took the shuttle back to the airport.
During our stay we also ate our weight in mangos and got stopped in the grocery store and some guy tried to talk us into going to a presentation where we would get $100 cash and a bottle of Tequila but regretfully passed on the offer.
All in all, it was a very, very good few days.

(I answered that for Seth, but he really was shocked that he lost to me. Helloo, you were playing against a highschool JV tennis champ! :) )

Muffins, Moves, Mulhollands, and Marriage

The letter of the weekend was "M" apparently. First things first, our appliances arrived and where installed on Friday! Hallelujah! We pretty much haven't had a functioning oven for like 3 months now and have been without a dishwasher for about 1 month. I tested out our new oven by making banana muffins on Friday night. Unfortunatley they were sick, but this time it wasn't because of the oven, just me. I was so happy that the oven worked I didn't even care!


While I was making muffins, Seth and I were waiting for the Nathan and Lindsey Mulholland to arrive. They were our first overnight guests at the lovely Garner Chalet and were provided wondeful sleeping accomodations which included an ultra-cozy airmattress. Although I wish we could have better arrangements for our guests, it was still so much fun having them. (Don't have a picture on the Mulhollands, sorry). Seth got a little bored waiting for them so he decided to bust out some killer dance moves in the meantime.



The Mulhollands came into town because it was Seth and Nathan's old roommate, Jason Kimm's wedding. All of us went to the ceremony, luncheon, and reception. It was a lot of fun and we are excited for Jason and Heidi.

Yeah, this is kinda sad, but sue me. I wasn't tagged specifically, but I was looking at someone elses blog and they tagged some people and then said and anyone else who wants to do it. And well, I'm looking for something to do besides work at the moment.

10 years ago...
I was an eigth grader at Union Middle School. I was all about friends...friends were LIFE! Some of my BFFs included Jamie Johns, Amber McCune, Staci Shelton, Michelle Gratzinger, Patrice Knudsen, Janessa Morrison, Jacee Frandsen, Hailee Carlson, like I said friends were life. I had a huge crush on Mark Barnes (as did the rest of the 8th grade girls) and Ryan Button (seriously it was crazy how every girl liked the same guys) and Aaron Rickford. I hated Mr. Markle's history class and I loved my team sports class with Michelle and Jacee. I had Spanish and sat in front of Nick Provstgaard, a ninth grader, who would talk to me. I was so shy and hardly ever would talk back. LOL, what a dork! In eigth grade I made a New Year's Resolution to paint my finger nails to match my outfit every day. Our friends passed around a notebook where we talked about who liked who and other personal middle school dish. One day some boys stole it and Amber, Michelle, and I chased them down the street in bare feet for a long time. I'm laughing out loud right now because I remember swearing at the boys to give the book back! This is also the year I got my braces off. I wore boots with shorts on picture day and my friends never let me forget it. I honestly don't think I looked that ridiculous but my friends sure did and it is forever engrained in their memories.

I would invest it...psyche! I would buy everything my heart and anyone else's heart desired.

Well I've had about 5 jobs times 4! Here's a few:
1. After-school sweeper (another name for a janitor...I was 14)
2. Truck-driver recruiter (I have stories)
3. Server at Goodwood BBQ (my longest job ever...almost 2.5 years)
4. Server Joe Morley's BBQ (what can I say...I love BBQ)
5. Current job...Social worker

5 things you probably don't know about me...
1. I went through a phase of wanting to be a hard core skier. In high school I wanted to be like Emily Broadwater and Nanette Morgan who are both way good at snowboarding, wakeboarding, anything involving a board basically. I laugh now because I can barely make it through 2 runs befor I need the lodge and hot chocolate. I still admire both Emily and Nanette for being so dang cool.
2. I've never broken a bone (another reason I wouldn't have made it as a skier)
3. I'm still afraid of the dark.
4. I was put on "tracking" in high school. As I've posted before, I was not so great with making it to all of my classes. My mom made the school put me on tracking. I had to have all my teachers sign a paper saying I was in class and then turn it in to the VP at the end of each week.
5. I've never seen Star Wars or Lord of the Rings (and I don't have any desire to see them either)
